Meridian Holiday Summer 2026

We plan to go to HF Nether Grange in Alnmouth, Northumberland, in 2026. We currently have the entire house on hold from the 10th - 17th of July.  If you would like to join us please send your room choice to me by email (heather.sim85@gmail.com) copied to our treasurer, Chris Simms (Chris@simms6.plus.com) with your non-refundable deposit of £75/person paid by bank transfer into the Meridian Bank account (Account no. 43226774, sort code: 09-06-66).

NOTE some of you will also be paying your balance for the 2025 holiday please DO NOT combine both payments but pay separately with a reference your surname i.e. ‘Sim 2026’ for your £75 deposit.

At the moment we have the entire house on a provisional booking; to have sole use we need to book for a minimum of 43 guests. If we do not reach this number we still intend to make the trip but will share the house. Please make sure you book by the 21st May if you would like to join us as we will not be able to hold all the rooms after that time.

You can see the hotel on the HF website Northumberland, Alnmouth - HF Holidays .  Many of you have stayed at HF hotels in the past; all HF have similar quality standards.  Some of our members have stayed at Alnmouth and the town and surrounding area is highly recommended.  As with all HF hotels, walking routes are available for guests to borrow during their stay.  Please feel free to bring your partners with you as I expect there will be some people walking as well as cycling each day.  I understand that there are some very interesting places to visit in the area and as we plan to stay for 7 days some people may choose to take a day off cycling.

As with all HF hotels the cost is inclusive of full breakfast, comprehensive packed lunch and 3 course evening meal.  Rooms choices:

  • The Classic room has en-suite facilities, cost £959/week/person.

  • Premium rooms with en-suite facilities costs an additional £10/person/night, a total of £1029/week/person.

  • This hotel has 4 Standard rooms, these are on the top floor with great views but they do NOT have en-suites.  Instead they share 3 WCs, 1 bathroom and 1 shower room all opposite the bedrooms.  There are 2 single and 2 twin standard rooms.  These cost £175 less than the classic rooms at £784/person.

If you wish to book a twin/double with a single supplement this is an additional £25/per night (additional £175 for the week).

We currently have access to the following rooms (if we do not use the entire house they may restrict the number of single rooms – I will communicate with everyone if this happens after the 21st April when we know the size of our group).  Rooms will be allocated on the basis of payment of deposit by bank transfer together with the email sent to myself and copied to Chris Simms (details above).

Transport

Everyone will be expected to organise their own transport to Alnmouth; off street parking is available.

Local bike hire – both electric and self-propelled are available nearby and the following firm can arrange collection from the hotel in their mini bus to their shop where they will fit the bikes to the individuals.  https://www.visitnorthumberland.com/explore/things-to-do/activities/sport-leisure/pedal-power-cycle-hire

What the brochure says about the area – may be of particular interest to non-cycling partners!

You can tell that you’re in for something special at this former 18th century granary in the heart of Alnmouth – the postcard-pretty coastal village treasured for its colourful cottages, superb walking routes, and peaceful beach where the River Aln meets the North Sea (in its heyday, it was a working river-port, exporting grain, wool, coal, and even the odd pipe of Madeira wine). You will be within distance of several visit-worthy castles, including Alnwick, Lindisfarne, Dunstanburgh, and Warkworth. If the weather’s nice, you can take a boat trip to the Farne Islands that lie just offshore midway between the villages of Seahouses and Bamburgh rewards with sightings of England's largest grey seal colonies.
