A route is a preplanned ride that can be displayed on a PC and, if required, downloaded on to a Garmin or equivalent. On the runs list you will find that some rides are accompanied by a link, which when clicked, allows the route to be displayed.
There are numerous programs that allow routes to be created and displayed; these include Strava, Garmin Connect etc. We find RideWithGPS (RWGPS) the most useful. To create a route you will need to create a Free/Starter account and login.
A good introduction to using the program can be found here.
Having created a route it can be stored in your account and displayed at a later date. When displaying a route you can export it as either a GPX or TCX file; these files can then be downloaded in TCX or GPX format for use on on your Garmin.
When displaying your route you will see the ‘Share’ option displayed. Clicking on this allows a link to your route to be copied on to the clipboard. This link is useful; you can either use to email a route to another person or you can use it to upload the route onto the Meridian web site.
The Runs list is the normal list to store Wednesday and Saturday rides. If you are leading a ride you can plan your route beforehand and store it on the runs list for the benefit of people who may be joining you on the ride.
The Runs Library is a separate list of routes that may be of interest to club members. These include Barry’s LEJOG, Dutch trips from 2019 and longer midweek Away days – all of which may be of interest at a future date.
